The article The most unusual day talks about that the Australian government came up with a new baby bonus policy to improve birth rate and help mothers reduce work. The government would give each mother a payment regarding the birth of a new child. "The payment will be a lump sum of $3,000 from 1 July and will rise to $5,000 by 1 July 2008. Those who are receiving the current Baby Bonus will keep that entitlement where it is higher than this." The new policy seemed good for the society, but that could bring some problems. For example, if every mother was economizing, they would put off their pregnancy and have their children born at least after July 1st, because the new policy increased their incentives. If so, they would put their babies into risk, and which they would not. That is dilemma right there. On the other hand, if people all put off their pregnancy after June 30th, the hospitals around the country will be so busy in the next month, and what if babies have to come out during weekends? Has the government ever thought about the additional cost that could have brought by this situation? So it is hard to tell whether the new policy is good or bad for the whole country.

The article The Academic Episode claims that now universities are run in reverse. Seguira was a rector in a university in a South American country, he suggested that students could challenge their professors. According to his policy, an able graduate student could in successive years become an instructor, an assistant professor, an associate professor, and a professor. Now, students just follow school years and finish what they need to do, it is impossible for a graduate student to become a professor in universities. It is also weird that professors need to whatever they can do to earn money when they are young, and when they get older, they can just have less work to do and leave most of it to teaching assistants, he himself works beyond creative projects with higher salary.
